The way that George write this piece is very interesting to me, for instance, he likes to talk about his feelings, more than the story that is happening. He likes to put his emotion and add more emphasise on metaphors and similes, that are sometimes hard to pick out. One does not simply have feelings for this piece; they have to dig through the story to find out what certain parts mean. As i said previously, its not that easy to find or even find out what some of these similes and metaphors mean, to the average person that is born and raised in America. The ending, I say is not of what i expected, George is actually grateful that the "coolie" died because of the elephant. For today's culture, that might not have been alright to say. But, that did give him the right to do what was right in George's eyes. Although that is a bad reason, it did end up working quite well in the end. BUT, AGAIN the fact that the soul reason why he did it was because he didnt want to look like a fool.
