Letters From Iwo Jima is about the Japanese View of the battle of Iwo Jima,

directed and co-produced by Clint Eastwood, starring Ken Watanabe and Kazunari Ninomiya.. During the preparation for the battle, Japaese soldiers wrote letters home. Little did they know, their letters never made it home. Then, the battle began, during the battle, the Japanese soldiers dug tunnels throughout the island to use as their base. The story follows a Japanese Soldier who's name is Saigo. He was nearly killed in many points in the story.

70 years later, archaeologists are roaming the caves in Iwo Jima. The archaeologists find a bag, empty it, and find that is full of the soldiers' letters that never left the island. A few of those letters are Siago's.
